Most systems can benefit from improvements in one or more of the following area: We provide an all encompassing variety of accessories including:
Humidifiers Whole home humidifiers are designed to work with your existing heating/air conditioning system. A humidifier will enhance your indoor comfort. The amazing automatic controls feature will automatically adjust up to 400,000 times a day to ensure accurate and comfortable relative humidity in your home. Basic benefits include:
Dehumidifiers With all of the energy saving changes in new and remodeled homes, HVAC systems do not operate as they once did. Many air conditioners do not run long enough to remove humidity. Too much humidity can be unhealthy and destructive. It creates an excellent breeding ground for hundreds of types of molds, mildew and other types of home invaders. Experts have identified the ideal level of relative humidity in homes to be between 30 to 60 percent. If your home is exceeding this type of humidity levels then a whole house dehumidifier may be the answer. Programmable Thermostats Enjoy superior comfort with a programmable thermostat. Also, automatically save energy through programming while you are sleeping or away from your home. A programmable thermostat is a simple way to have reliable, accurate temperature control. Wireless Thermostats A thermostat works best when it is in the room you care about the most. If you spend lots of time in the living room, then you might make things much more comfortable by moving your thermostat there. A wireless thermostat is a great way of moving the thermostat without having to open up walls to run new wires. The thermostat requires no wires thus giving you flexibility as to installation locations. Duct Work One of the largest elements of home comfort is proper duct design. Many duct systems were improperly designed causing discomfort in your home. Our team of experts can assess your duct system and make recommendations to improve your comfort. Zoning Academy Air can accurately and efficiently zone your current duct system for total home comfort. Thus, zoning provides individual comfort with specific pre planned areas of your home. For example, if only one or two rooms need heating or cooling, zoning will provide greater comfort and be economically effective. When a home is zoned, a thermostat in each room or group of rooms or zones monitor the temperature. When the thermostat senses the need for heating or cooling, a central control panel turns on your A/C, furnace or heat pump. This control panel will also activate motorized clamps in the duct work to open or close. Then the heated or cooled air will be directed only to the zone or zones required. A well designed and controlled zoned system will quickly respond to comfort needs and eliminate hot and cold spots and provide more consistent temperatures throughout your home. A properly zoned system can be up to 30% more efficient than a non-zoned system. Academy Air is known as zoning experts and can guarantee 100% comfort after they design your zoned system. ERV - Energy Recovery Ventilator Today's homes are better insulated, tightly sealed and use less energy. Unfortunately sealing your home seals in carbon dioxide, radon, humidity, and other noxious gases. An ERV exchanges stale indoor air, with fresh outdoor air, without the wasted energy of opening a window. When you open a window you are letting out air that you have just heated (or cooled) and are replacing it with air at the outdoors temperature. An ERV uses the heat (or cooling) from your exhaust air to heat (or cool) the fresh incoming air. It can even help humidify the incoming air. Enjoy fresh air in your home while maintaining efficiency.
We provide an all encompassing variety of accessories including:
Ultraviolet Lights The Ultraviolet Air Treatment System produce UVC energy that emits short wave ultraviolet light that is a proven effective germicide. The system is ozone free and kills up to 99.9% of surface mold on your existing air conditioning components and cooling coils. This technology is widely used in hospitals, pharmacies and restaurant kitchens to kill airborne and surface microorganisms like mold and bacteria. The ultraviolet light is easily installed by our technicians and will zap mold and germs for cleaner air in your home. Whole House Air Cleaners All HVAC systems have a filter. Surprisingly, this filter isn't there to improve your air quality, it's there to provide basic protection for your HVAC system. Typically, HVAC systems have a basic blue spun fiberglass filter. This filter design allows lots of air to pass, but also lots of dust and pollution. You can get a better "media" filter at Home Depot. It looks like white paper and does a better job of removing debris. Unfortunately it also tends to choke your system, killing efficiency and raising operating costs. To maintain efficiency and remove pollution, you need a filter with lots of surface area, much more than will fit in your original filter tray. A true Media Air Cleaner folds lots of surface area into a compact space. It will remove up to 99% of pollen and spores at 10 microns and 76% as small as 1.0 microns and thus provide allergy relief and reduces other airborne particles. This system will help protect your HVAC equipment by reducing contaminant build up. Thus your system could run between 10-25% more efficiently. A media air cleaner is an excellent choice for a healthier more comfortable home. Media Air cleaners use highly efficient pleated filters or “media” to remove 99% of larger particles. HEPA Filters Filters that retain and filter out 99.97% or more of particles down to 0.3 microns are called "HEPA" filters. Some HEPA filters just meet this spec, and some of our filters exceed this standard. An Electronic Air cleaner uses static electricity to pull the pollutants out of the air, while maintaining lots of air flow. An Electronic Air cleaner will attract and retain the smallest of airborne pollutants like a powerful magnet. This is the most efficient electronic air cleaner that effectively removes up to 99% of particles at 3 microns and up to 94% of particles down to 0.5 microns. What this means is that an Electronic Air Cleaner can remove more than 90% of fungi and ragweed pollen from the air. These air cleaners provide unsurpassed performance and help minimize the risk of colds, flu, asthma and allergy attacks. Be comfortable in your own home, even if you suffer from allergies. AccuClean Filtering System The American Standard AccuClean is an electronic air filtration system that exceeds the HEPA standard. It is 8 times more effective that the best HEPA room appliance, and 100 times more efficient than a standard 1 inch filter. AccuClean removes up to 99.98% of unwanted particles and allergens from the air in your home. This system catches particles as small as 0.1 microns in size. The system is engineered to run silently, allowing your home to be both comfortable and peaceful. It has an extraordinary warranty… 10 year limited warranty on the electronics and 5 year limited warranty on all other parts. This system is designed with a patented filter that provides long lasting and consistent performance with the lowest pressure drop and highest efficiency of any filtration system on the market. This should bring welcome comfort to family members who suffer from allergies or asthma and you and your family will breathe easier than ever before. Duct Cleaning Your HVAC system can get dirty. Sometimes we forget to change the filter, leave a filter out, or use a low quality filter. Dust and allergens can get into the system. Sometimes we put in the wrong filter, and choke the system reducing air flow that keeps the system clean. "Duct Cleaning" refers to the cleaning of various heating and cooling system components of forced air systems, including the supply and return air ducts and registers, grills and diffusers. In addition it is also recommended to clean the heat exchangers, heating and cooling coils, condensate drain pans, fan motor and the fan housing. The benefits of Duct Cleaning include:
If you don't have a high efficiency whole house filter, we recommend Duct Cleaning every 5 years.
Carbon Monoxide Detectors Carbon monoxide (also known as "CO") is a silent killer. Danger in your home range from a running car, faulty operation or ventilation of fireplaces, ranges., grills or other gas driven appliances. A CO alarm will provide peace of mind and give you the protection for your family and home. Ceiling Saver Kit Your HVAC system shouldn't leak, but life isn't perfect. When your unit is mounted in your attic, you want an extra layer of protection to protect your ceiling in case of a leak. Academy Air's Ceiling Saver Kit consists of a safety pan to catch any overflow, and a float switch to shut down the system before the ceiling is damaged.. Flu Liners Many older chimneys are not designed to handle new, high efficiency, furnaces. Building codes require Flu Liners if you have a masonry chimney and upgrade to a mid-efficienciy furnace. Academy Air can install a Flu Liner which allows many older chimneys to be used.
Water Heaters Water heaters range in size from 30 gallons to 100 gallons. We can accurately install your system that includes a 6/6/2 warranty. In addition to traditional hot water heaters, Academy Air also installs Tankless and Hybrid water heaters. A Tankless heater generates hot water on demand. No tank is needed and you will never run out of hot water. Tankless heaters are much smaller than traditional water heaters and are perfect where space is at a premium. Hybrid water heaters are new on the market, available in both Gas and Electric. The gas Hybrids use sophisticated techniques to recover most of the heat that would be lost up the chimney with a traditional gas water heater. A Hybrid electric heater uses a heat pump to heat your water giving you efficiencies of well over 100%. Hybrid electric heaters also have traditional electric heater elements as backup heat. Let us help you choose the right system to fit your family’s needs. Roof Vents A roof vent exhausts heat from the attic, lowering cooling costs and increasing comfort. Roof vents can be powered by electricity, wind, or convection. Mold Tablets / Algaecide Strips We can place mold tablets and/or Algaecide Strips in the condensate drain system to help prevent mold and algae from growing. Mold and algae can be an irritant and can block the drain system causing an overflow. Armoflex insulation for Refrigerant Lines Armoflex insulation helps to keep the refrigerant lines from dripping water. Dripping water is unsightly and can be a real nuisance. Gas Piping Natural Gas is a great choice for so many things. Academy Air can install additional gas lines in your home for additional appliances, fireplaces, Barbecues, etc. We can also repair, replace, or upgrade any of your existing gas lines. Insulate Water Lines Water lines installed in unconditioned, or barely conditioned spaces should be insulated to reduce the chance of burst pipes due to freezing. Academy Air can insulate these pipes to help prevent an expensive catastrophe.
